Ryan J. Stocker
(June 21, 1975 - June 4, 2011)
Ryan James Stocker was born June 21, 1975 to James Dean and Kathy Georgene Disney Stocker-Carpenter at Superior, Nebraska. He departed this life of 35 years, 11 months, and 13 days early Saturday morning, June 4, 2011 at his home in Beloit, Kansas.
Ryan spent his childhood years growing up in the Superior area, and on June 2, 1995 married Amy Flaata at Nelson, Nebraska. They were the proud parents of two children Brittany and Zachary.
Ryan began his distinguished career in law enforcement after attending the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center. He served as Deputy Sheriff in Washington County, Kansas from 1998 until joining the Beloit Police Department in January, 2003. He was promoted to the rank of Chief of Police in 2009.
A genuine people person at heart, Ryan loved his family and working with kids in general. He loved teaching the DARE classes. Always passionate about what he did, Ryan gave 110% to whatever task was at hand. He loved camping at the lake and worked for the Department of Wildlife and Parks. But above all, his true passion was being with his family.
He was a member of the Beloit Lions Club and numerous professional organizations.
Left to mourn his passing and celebrate his life are his wife Amy of the home, daughter Brittany and son Zachary of the home; his mother Kathy Carpenter and husband Mark of Sabetha, Kansas, his father James Stocker and wife Kathy of Branson, Missouri; one brother Christopher Stocker and wife Tracy of Red Cloud, Nebraska; his grandfather Benjamin Disney of Superior, Nebraska; 7 nieces, 2 nephews. In addition, Ryan’s legacy of honest law enforcement will be missed by countless friends and colleagues.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 PM Wednesday at First United Methodist Church with Pastor Glenn Fogo officiating. Cremation will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be given to the Brittany and Zachary Stocker Education Fund. Police Chief Stocker will lie in state from 9 AM until 8 PM Tuesday at the McDonald Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 7:00 PM. The casket will remain closed.
